Rory Batchilder, MEd, RP, CCC, is a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with approximately 20 years of experience helping adults navigate challenges that can affect their well-being, relationships, work and sense of self.
His practice places particular emphasis on individual psychotherapy for adults experiencing ADHD and neurodivergence, anxiety, relationship concerns, workplace stress and burnout, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and longstanding patterns that can leave people feeling stuck.
Rory’s approach is collaborative, practical and compassionate. He draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed approaches and relationship-focused psychotherapy, adapting therapy to the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit a particular model.
He has a particular interest in working with adults with ADHD and neurodivergent ways of thinking. Therapy can address not only attention, organization and motivation, but also emotional regulation, anxiety, relationships, self-understanding and the effects of years spent trying to function within systems that may not fit particularly well.
Rory also maintains a smaller couples and relationship therapy practice using Gottman-informed approaches.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, Rory trained as an engineer and served as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. These experiences contribute to the practical, curious and systems-oriented perspective he brings to psychotherapy.
Rory provides virtual individual psychotherapy to adults throughout Ontario and is based in Ottawa.
