Our feelings, impulses, and reactions are trying to tell us something, even when they are unpleasant, unwanted, or inconvenient. Sometimes it can be hard to make sense of what is best for us and what we can control, and sometimes it might feel like there is no choice at all. If you’re feeling stuck in anxiety or depression, experiencing fallout from trauma or abuse, faced with a new challenge or repeating the same patterns, or simply wanting to become more emotionally aware and available, I might be able to help.
Gestalt therapy can help you understand your emotions by working with them in the present moment. Even if we are talking about something that happened in your past, we can explore where you are currently getting stuck, interrupted, or overwhelmed and work together on self-support, giving you the opportunity to see that you have a choice in how to respond.
I aim for a practical, creative, and down-to-earth approach to therapy. I will challenge you to redefine the assumptions you make about yourself and what’s possible, speaking directly to your inner critic and the voice in your head that says “I can’t”, “I should”, and “I have to”. If this sounds supportive, I would enjoy meeting you for a consultation.
