Adele Wilson (she/her) is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate student with four years of experience in mental health counselling and eight years of experience facilitating therapeutic groups and international retreats. Adele also spent many years as an educator, including instructing undergraduate literature and writing, and she currently teaches classes on psychedelic-assisted therapy to healthcare practitioners. Known for her steady presence and her creative, inquisitive therapeutic stance, Adele is dedicated to fostering a supportive healing space for adult (18+) individuals.
Philosophy:
Adele believes that counselling should be a respectful and empowering experience, attuned to safety and to the unique needs of each client. She feels honoured to work with clients who are experiencing challenges in their lives, and she brings an outlook that is thoughtful, nonjudgemental, and informed by a holistic approach that takes into account the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual aspects of wellbeing.
Therapeutic Approach:
With expertise in somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions, Adele tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each client. She believes in keeping a person’s strengths and resilience in view—and this person-centered, collaborative approach reflects her commitment to respecting clients’ personal agency and insights regarding their therapeutic needs.
In addition, Adele is inspired by Buddhist and nondual meditation practices, restorative justice approaches to conflict resolution, Indigenous healing practices, yoga practice, and creative and therapeutic writing. Her personal history with depression, trauma, and chronic allergic reactions—which catalyzed her own therapeutic journey—has deepened her humility and her respect for each individual’s unique path through this complicated world.
Focus Areas:
In her practice, Adele supports individuals who are navigating a range of life circumstances, challenges, and goals. She has an expertise in supporting trauma recovery, including complex relational trauma, sexual trauma, and spiritual trauma. And she is particularly adept at bringing a somatic approach to trauma work, which directly attends to nervous system dysregulation—a major symptom experienced by people with a trauma history or PTSD diagnosis. Adele works with each client to identify therapeutic goals and to co-create a confidential space that supports connection, insight, and healing.
