Counselling Profile:
Thank you for reading my bio and exploring if I am the right fit for you throughout your therapeutic journey. The therapist-client relationship is a vital part of the work we might be doing together, and that I feel grateful to have you consider me to be part of this brave step you’re taking.
I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor and a Licensed Counselling Therapist- Candidate with the College of Licensed Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick. I hold a Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of New Brunswick and am in the process of becoming an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. I have been practicing in the areas of trauma, sexual violence, gender-based violence, 2SLGBTQIA+ wellness, gender identity, work and school stress, self esteem, anxiety and depression for the past 7 years predominantly with young adults.
I believe in a holistic approach to wellness and am committed to creating a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. I want to ensure clients feel they can show up as their authentic selves and feel safe, seen, heard, and valued. I work collaboratively with clients to capitalize on their inherent strengths and skills, and to cultivate greater feelings of connection, authenticity, and healing in their lives. While I bring knowledge and expertise in certain areas, I know that clients are the experts of their own lives and experiences. I strive to honor and value this knowledge as we work together.
I approach therapy from a feminist based, trauma and violence informed, anti-oppressive, and strengths-based framework. My practice is eclectic and I draw from modalities in Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Sex Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Outside of the therapy office you can find me exploring the woods with my adventure side kick (my 6 year old golden doodle), gardening, or trying a new craft.
