Ken works at Nightingale Counselling, a high-standard clinic for adults and youth seeking meaningful progress in their lives.
I understand that the decision to seek counselling isn’t always an easy one. The issues you’re facing may have a complex history which could make them feel difficult to talk about. As a therapist, I create a safe and supportive space in which you don’t feel pressured or rushed. Instead, you’re welcome to move at a manageable pace. I draw from a variety of modalities, but the core of my relational therapeutic approach flows from Rogerian person-centered therapy and is strengths-based and trauma-informed. I’m friendly and approachable, but talking with me goes deeper than that, as I genuinely believe in you, and your ability to shape your life. I will gently challenge your limited beliefs while helping you create achievable goals that encourage your healing and personal growth. I believe my clients are often stronger than they realize, and capable of making meaningful change.
I help my clients to address depression, anxiety, grief, life changes, and mental health concerns. I work with youth and adult individuals, as well as those in relationships. I welcome diversity and I strive to be humble and curious when exploring the cultures of my clients. I’m affirming of my 2SLGBTQ+ community and recognize the challenges we face, as well as the joys we experience. I love that I get to journey alongside all of my clients while witnessing their growth and cheering them on as they begin to see themselves in a new light.
I live in Vancouver’s West End, and I’m recharged by frequent seawall walks, appreciating architecture and interior design, and creating non-Pinterest-worthy charcuterie boards, but most importantly by nurturing connection with my two brilliant and inspiring youn-adult children. My daily self-regulation practice involves boundary-setting with our strong -willed cat, Buttercup.
